ANNUAL CAROL SERVICE

For many years we were able to hold a Carol Service

for Club Members, initially at St Barnabas Church, Linslade

and latterly at Christchurch, Hitchin.

Our Service followed traditional lines, telling the Christmas Story

through lessons (read by a different selection of members each year)

and selected carols.  To make sure that we satisfied the body

as well as the soul, the congregation always retired

to the Church Hall to enjoy a bountiful buffet lunch.

Sadly, since the ravages of the pandemic,

we’ve been unable to gather a congregation of sufficient size

to make our own Service a viable proposition.

All is not lost however, as there is a standing invitation

to the Barclays Annual Carol Service in Southwark Cathedral.

This is a much more splendid affair, albeit that there is usually

only a cup of mulled wine and a mince pie afterwards!
