THE LUTON DISTRICT

PENSIONERS CLUB

The Club is one of some fifty or so similar Clubs, whose members

have an affinity with geographical regions of the Bank

or specific operational areas.

Luton District (which developed into Luton Region,

and subsequently had a brief afterlife as North London & Luton Region)

had a reputation as one of the most innovative and top

performing Districts.  Its branches spread originally throughout

Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, and its

membership is drawn primarily from staff whose career

touched those counties or who now live in the area.

The purpose of the Club, as defined in its Constitution,

is twofold  -  to promote social and recreational activities,

and to provide appropriate welfare assistance to its members in general.

The affairs of the Club are guided by an elected

Management Committee, which communicates both actively

and responsively with relevant areas of the Bank,

and sends delegates to national events for Pensioners’ Clubs.

Communication with members is achieved through the frequent

use of bespoke mailing lists (for e-mail and “snail mail”);  the presence

of Committee members at arranged events;  this website;  a central

phone number and e-mail address;  welfare activities;  occasional Newsletters;  and the Annual General Meeting.

epitomises the way in which our Club functions.
